The main topic explained in this Final Project is the planning and making of an expert shell system which is based on forward chaining. Forward chaining is a process which starts finding from the premis or data into conclusion. The process of making this expert system needs three elements which are: domain expert which is an expert t`rom which the knowledge will be gained, knowledge expert which will gain knowledge from the expert, and user.
Knowledge engineer will need facts which will be used by the expert system engine in analyzing the problem and find the best solution or conclution. Besides facts, knowledge
engineer will also need to find out if the reaseon given is a solution. The purpose of this software is to make an expert system which uses for diagnose children diseases and using forward chaining algorithm.
The programming language used in making this expert shell system is Borland Delphi 5.0. and tools Lex Yacc. There is a weakness of forward chaining algorithm, this algorithm can ask some questions which isn’t connected with the conclusion. Tools Lex Yacc can help us to handling parsing process for template teks. Based on the result of questionnaire. we can say that this expert shell system program is suitable to use, we can also say that this program is accurate enough and have an interesting interface design. There are just a few children diseases which is use in this program. remembering how many children diseases in Indonesia.
